The 1965 war hero Abdul Hamid, martyred nearly 60 years ago, is an apt subject for a film titled Paramveer as he was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery, said producer Vikram Khakhar. He added that S Ramachandran Srinivasan, author of the recently released book Mere Papa Paramveer has meticulously compiled all the facts and real events from Hamid’s life through years of hard work, dedication and thorough study to ensure that the film is based on an authentic and accurate portrayal.

Co-producer Anusha Srinivasan Iyer explained that it took 60 years to bring this story to the screen. However, making a film on the life of Paramveer Chakra should not take that much time. Also, they want to show something in the film that will inspire people to join the military service. She said it is a matter of pride that the film is based on Dr Ramachandran’s book. Every citizen of the country should thank the soldiers. They protect the border, which keeps us safe.

Khakhar added that the film carries a social message and urges people to transcend caste and religion and put their nation first. He also pointed out that this is the first film in India to be shot using cutting-edge Hollywood technology, with parts of the film to be shot in Veer Abdul Hamid’s native village Dhampur. The star cast for the film has not been finalised yet, but the film promises to be a poignant tribute to a national hero and an inspirational story for future generations.

Besides, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat attended a book launch at the memorial of martyr Veer Abdul Hameed at Dhamupur in Dullahpur on Monday.

On the occasion of Paramveer Chakra awardee Abdul Hameed’s birth anniversary, he paid tributes to the martyr and released a book on his life, Mere Papa Paramveer, written by Ramachandran Srinivasan and narrated by his son Zainul Hasan. The Sangh chief also held a meeting with Sangh and BJP workers.
