A video of a fun banter between Anupam Kher and Mahesh Bhatt is trending on the Internet. The clip, which is from an event, shows Anupam Kher talking about his special bond with the ace filmmaker. At one point, the actor also pays his respect to Mahesh Bhatt by giving guru dakshina. Anupam Kher also recalled the time when Mahesh Bhatt helped him. FYI: Mahesh Bhatt gave Anupam a break in Saaransh in 1984. The actor received positive acclaim for his performance and has gained success in the industry thereafter. Taking out about Rs 300 from his pocket, the actor gave it to Mahesh Bhatt. The actor humbly noted, “Guru dakshina ek janam mein dena possible nahin hai! (can’t pay him in one lifetime). Today, as I entered the venue for the press meet, Bhatt saab asked me to pay him right there. I checked how much cash I had and could only give him Rs 300.”

Speaking to ETimes, Mahesh Bhatt stated, “It was indeed a memorable day to have Anupam Kher, my protege who began his journey with Saaransh and now he has done more than 540 films. But still remains defined by that enduring classic we made together.”
The filmmaker added, “And Vikram Bhatt who began as an assistant to me and then went on to make Raaz, Raaz 3, Kasoor and so many other films. Now, he has launched four films. And then to watch Shweta Das and Katha Bothra directors and writers emerge and soon they will be on the same dias where I was. I am certain about that. So, it was a great evening for me. When your proteges are coming to their own and find wings to soar, it’s a delightful experience to watch that moment.”
About four films were announced at the event. The first was Vikram Bhatt’s historical drama Rann. It is set in 1669 and is based on Mewar’s Maharana Raj Singh, who fought Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s policy of imposing the Jizya tax.
The next two films — Viraat, and Tu Meri Puri Kahaani — announced are written by Mahesh Bhatt. Anupam Kher’s Tumko Meri Kasam was also announced at the event.
