Kohli’s 117-run knock against the Kiwis in the knockout fixture at Wankhede took him past legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 673 runs in the 2003 edition of the Blue Ribbon event.

David Warner, who put up 647 runs in the 2019 World Cup stands fifth in the list of batsmen with the most number of runs at a single World Cup.
Kohli has been in mesmerising form as he leads the Indian charge to bring back the coveted trophy home after the 2011 triumph.
India reached the semifinal of the event on home soil in stunning fashion as they registered nine wins in their nine group-stage outings, blowing away their opposition in every fixture.
Kohli, who has been a crucial part of the men in blues’ run to the knockouts in the ICC event continued his fine touch against the Kiwis on Wednesday too as he piled on more runs to add to India’s tally.
The men in blue won the toss and opted to bat first against the Kiwis in the semifinal encounter as skipper Rohit and Shubman Gill got India off to a brilliant start. Rohit made 47 runs off just 29 deliveries before being scalped by Tim Southee, while Gill added 79 runs off just 65 deliveries before returning hurt.
Kohli and Shreyas Iyer steadied the innings from there on out to keep the scoreboard ticking against the New Zealand bowling unit, with their tons.
