Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra who is currently basking in the success of his recently released film 12th Fail, recently recollected working with Amitabh Bachchan for the 2007 film ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’. He revealed that he also gifted him a swanky luxurious car for a big reason.
While speaking to Siddharth Kanan, Vidhu revealed that he gifted Big B a Rolls Royce worth Rs 4.5 crore, because he ‘tolerated’ him apparently. He shared, “When we were making Eklavya, Amitabh Bachchan came to the sets with one suitcase for a schedule of two months. I asked, ‘Amit, you travel very light?’ He said, ‘No, Jaya told me ‘more than one week you cannot stand Vinod.”
He further added, “Because he did not leave and completed the whole film, I gifted him a Rolls Royce worth Rs 4.5 crore, because he tolerated me and did a great work in the film.”
Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who’s known for his celebrated for his critically acclaimed works like Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, and Mission Kashmir, made his directorial comeback after almost three-year hiatus with the Vikrant Massey starrer 12th Fail.
12th Fail is based on Anurag Pathak’s best-selling novel, chronicling the incredible journeys of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi. The film offers a glimpse into the lives of aspirants preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. It goes beyond the confines of a single exam and encourages aspirants not to lose hope in the face of failure but to regroup and forge ahead.
