Bella Hadid consistently makes news, whether it’s for being one of the most well-known supermodels or for speaking out on a variety of socio-political topics. Every fashion enthusiast will always remember her bleached brows and spray-on Coperni appearance at the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. However, Hadid also stands out for being open about her mental health, a subject that is typically avoided.
The Michael Kors Award for Mental Health Advocacy she earned at the 2022 Golden Heart Awards was thus not surprising. She obviously dressed beautifully for the momentous event.

She wore a golden gown with long sleeves and a plunging neckline from the Michael Kors collection for 2023. It was worn with understated makeup and open-toed, golden strap shoes. She added a pair of silver dangling earrings as an accessory. She finished off her look with glossy nude lips, flushed cheeks, a ton of highlighter, mascara-coated eyes, and a sleek bun of hair.
The program God’s Love, with which the award is associated, will “provide meal delivery and nutrition counseling to people suffering from a range of mental health diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse conditions," according to Bella in an Instagram post congratulating the recipient.
Bella, one of the most prominent social media and fashion icons of our day, has often shown the most fragile aspects of her personality. Social media is a fiction. If somebody is having trouble, please keep that in mind. Sometimes hearing that you’re not alone is all you need to hear. I’m saying to you that you’re not alone. You are loved; I can see you and hear you. It is almost like a flowing rollercoaster of hurdles, yet self-help and mental illness/chemical imbalance are not linear. It fluctuates up and down as well as side to side. She said in one such letter, “But I want you to know, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and the rollercoaster always comes to a complete stop at some point.
She posted photos of herself in tears and captioned them, “That feeling of thinking that you’re good enough or being insecure about your art- is natural- but at the same time, I feel like it’s taught. All humans are different, every single human has something so special and unique to offer. And people forget that everyone is basically feeling the same way: lost, confused, not really sure why they’re here. That anxiety, like, everyone is feeling that- – and trying to cover it up in some way. We’re gonna come together in our flaws. In our insecurities, in our joy, in our happiness, and accept it all as beautiful and natural."
