Former Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta on Monday alleged that IndiGo has made it mandatory to buy a snack if a person is ordering a soft drink.
The former BJP leader also tagged and urged Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to too look into the matter and asked him to “restore the principles le of choice to flyers”.
In a post on microblogging site X, Dasgupta wrote: “I discovered in mid-air on an Indigo flight that you can’t buy a soft drink. The airline has made it obligatory to also buy a snack, regardless of whether you want it or not. This is coercion and I urge minister @JM_Scindia to restore the principles le of choice to fliers. Squeezing fliers through all sorts of extras must stop.”

Replying to Dasgupta’s post, an X user, replied that he completely agrees with the former MP.
Some users also went on to allege IndiGo does not provide meals on long international flight while other airlines on the same route provide “multiple meals if journey is longer”
The X user wrote: “@IndiGo6E doesn’t even provide meal on international flights, forget domestic. All other major airlines, even Air India and Vistara, provide meal and drinks. All major intl carriers provide multiple meals if journey is longer. It will be tough for IndiGo to compete in intl markets.”
