CBSE Board Exam 2024: Class 10 Social Science, Class 12 Geography Sample Paper, Marking Scheme Released
CBSE Students who are going to appear for the board exams in 2024 can download the sample question papers and marking scheme from cbseacademic.nic.in

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Class 10 and 12 board examinations from February 15, 2024. As informed by the board earlier, these final exams are expected to conclude by April 10, 2024. However, the detailed schedules of the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams are awaited. CBSE recently issued the sample question papers as well as marking schemes for both the Class 10 and 12 exams. Students who are going to appear for the board exam next year can download the sample question papers and marking scheme from cbseacademic.nic.in.

CBSE Class 10 Social Science sample paper and marking scheme

–– The total time allotted for the exam is 3 hours and the maximum mark is 80.

–– In the sample question paper there are six sections – A, B, C, D, E and F. There will be a total of 37 questions and all questions are mandatory.

–– Section A (questions 1 to 20) will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of one mark each.

–– Section B (questions 21 to 24) are very short answer-type questions. These questions will carry two marks each and answers to these questions must not exceed 40 words.

–– Section C (questions 25 to 29) also has short answer type questions. They will carry three marks each and the answer should not exceed 60 words.

–– Section D (containing questions from 30 to 33) will include long answer type questions that will carry 5 marks each. The answer to these questions must not exceed 120 words.

–– Section E (questions from 34 to 36) are case-based questions. This section will have three sub-questions and will carry four marks each. In addition, the answer to these questions should not exceed 100 words.

––  Section F (question number 37) is the map-based question. It will have two parts: 37a from History (two marks) and 37b from Geography (three marks).

CBSE Class 12 Geography sample paper and marking scheme

–– Students will be given three hours to complete the CBSE Class 12 Geography Theory paper, which has a maximum mark limit of 70.

–– The Geography theory paper will contain 30 questions and all questions are compulsory. Furthermore, it will be divided into five sections – A, B, C, D and E.

–– Section A (question number 1 to 17) are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) which will carry 1 mark each.

–– Section B (question number 18 and 19) will be source-based questions carrying 3 marks each.

–– Section C (question number 20 to 23) are short answer type questions that will carry 3 marks each. Students will have to write these answers in 80 to 100 words.

–– Section D (question number 24 to 28) will comprise long answer type questions carrying 5 marks each. Meanwhile, the answers are to be written in 120 to 150 words.

–– Section E (question number 29 and 30) are map-based questions.
