Four new cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 were reported in Rajasthan on Wednesday, taking the tally in the state to eight, officials said
India reported 412 fresh cases of Covid on Wednesday taking the tally of active cases to 4,093, Health Ministry said on Wednesday. Delhi reported its first case of Covid subvariant JN.1 today. Karnataka reported 103 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours with one death. Of the news 57 were reported from Bengaluru.

- Delhi reported its first case of Covid subvariant Jn.1 on Wednesday.
- “The man was not from Delhi and was referred to a private hospital recently. He had multiple comorbidities and the Covid finding was incidental. The sample of the man has been sent for genome sequencing and a report is awaited,” an official told PTI.
- “JN.1 is a sub-variant of Omicron and is a mild infection. This is the one spreading in south India. There is no need to panic. It causes mild sickness,” Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said.

- “In Delhi, we have started RTPCR testing and around 250 to 400 RTPCR tests are being conducted daily. 2 positive cases were there in yesterday’s report. A total of 4-5 patients are admitted to the hospital. No death has been reported…” said Delhi Health Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj.
- On precautions against the JN.1 variant of Covid, Shekhar C Mande, former DG, CSIR said, “People should practice physical distancing and also wear masks in public.”
