The flight carrying 303 Indians that was grounded in France allegedly over a human trafficking investigation has taken off for Mumbai. The A340 aircraft, being operated by Romania’s Legend Airlines, was cleared for departure by French authorities and is expected to land at Mumbai airport on Tuesday morning.
The charter plane that was headed to Nicaragua before being grounded in France was allowed to resume its journey on Monday following the completion of legal formalities.
The Indian embassy in France thanked French authorities for the “quick resolution of the situation”.

News18 reported on Sunday that, according to top sources in the ministry of external affairs (MEA), the flight had received clearance from a French judge to fly out of the country.
Sources said the Indian government will decide on further action after the aircraft lands here.
The plane was grounded by French authorities at the Vatry airport, 150 kilometres east of Paris last week.
According to government sources, it is believed that poor villagers from Punjab and Gujarat wanted to enter the USA through Nicaragua. In consular access, it was found that the passengers were mostly Gujarati and Punjabi who were tutored that they were travelling for tourism.
Nicaragua is a popular illegal route to enter the USA after the Mexican side was closed.
