Satya Nadella, the CEO of the US-based tech giant Microsoft, recently talked about how he felt when he found out he would be the new CEO in 2014. He shared this during an interview at Axel Springer’s Berlin headquarters after receiving an award, where he also discussed his professional journey, leadership and Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI, the Times of India reported.

“Having grown up at Microsoft, first during Bill (Gates)’s tenure, and then Steve (Ballmer)’s tenure, I don’t think I ever got up in the morning and thought that someday Microsoft would have neither Bill nor Steve. And quite frankly, when Steve announced that he was going to leave, it was a real shock to me,” Nadella said.

Nadella recounted the moment when a board member asked if he wanted to be the CEO, to which he replied, “Only if you want me to be the CEO.” He shared this exchange with Steve and conveyed his uncertainty about the role, but Steve advised him to stay true to himself and see how things unfolded, remarking, “It’s too late to change, so just be yourself and see what happens.”

Nadella is only the third person to lead Microsoft since the company was founded in 1975, only co-founder Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer have headed it.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has started rolling out the next major update to its Windows 11 PC operating system with some new features. The main change in the new update (known as Windows 11, version 23H2) includes the name change of Microsoft Teams to Chat.

The Windows 11 2023 update also brings some improvements to app management. System components in Windows 11 now have a “system” label and are segregated into a new section in settings.

The Microsoft Store, Game Bar, Phone Link, and Tips apps are all included, and it appears that Microsoft is getting ready to let Windows 11 customers remove these system components at some time.
