The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the reason behind Yashasvi Jaiswal’s absence from India’s Playing XI for the first T20I against Afghanistan at IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Jaiswal, who has been in decent form in T20Is, was missing from India’s team as skipper Rohit Sharma at the toss, said that he has not been keeping well.
Meanwhile, the BCCI also provided an update on Jaiswal and stated that he had a sore right groin.
“UPDATE: Mr Yashasvi Jaiswal was unavailable for selection for the first T20I due to a sore right groin,” the BCCI posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rohit also asserted that Jaiswal didn’t pull off well and missed out.
“I had a chat with Rahul bhai regarding the combination going forward and what we need to do as a group. That’s what we’ll try to do, but winning is the most important thing. Sanju Samson, Avesh, Yashasvi (who didn’t pull off well) and Kuldeep miss out,” Rohit said at the toss.
The hosts have included opener Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma as they prepare for the T20 World Cup in June.
Afghanistan skipper Ibrahim Zadran said the series was a “massive opportunity to get experience ahead of the T20 World Cup”.
“We wanted to bowl first as well, but it’s not a big problem, we’ll try and execute our plans. This is massive opportunity to get experience ahead of the T20 World Cup. We’ll try and play some positive cricket. Noor Ahamad, Sharafuddin, Saleem Saifi aren’t playing, forgot the rest of the guys,” Zadran said at the toss.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman leads the potent Afghan spin attack in the absence of Rashid Khan, who is recovering from back surgery and will miss the three matches despite travelling with the team.
