Watch: Rohit Sharma Greets Virat Kohli After Gritty Knock in Centurion
Virat Kohli was the only batter to manage a score of some significance in India's batting collapse in Centurion.

On a day when the Indian batters surrendered early in front of South Africa’s fiery pace attack, Virat Kohli turned out to be lone bright light for the tourists in Centurion.

While the majority of his teammates returned to the pavilion for a single-digit score, Kohli registered 76 off 82 balls during India’s second innings in the first Test against South Africa. His efforts, however, went in vain as the visitors ended up losing the match by an innings and 32 runs.

Despite suffering a humiliating defeat, Rohit Sharma didn’t forget to show his respect for Kohli.

The Indian captain was standing outside the dressing room and patted Kohli on the back who was evidently disappointed with the outcome of the match. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was also there and lauded Kohli for his gritty knock.

Soon after the video surfaced on the microblogging site, fans rallied to the comment section and highlighted the bond between the two Indian stalwarts.

Riding on a century from KL Rahul, India managed to post a respectable 245 runs in their first innings. Dean Elgar stole the show for South Africa in their first innings. The 36-year-old opener scored 185 runs off 287 balls, a knock that comprised as many as 28 fours.

Debutant David Bedingham and all-rounder Marco Jansen also made some crucial contributions, with both of them notching up half-centuries.

South Africa then ran riot with the ball bowling out India for only 131 runs in their second innings, the Proteas secured the victory on Day 3.
