As many as 50 aircraft including nine Rafale fighter jets and four helicopters were part of the stunning air show

The Republic Day Parade at Delhi’s Kartavya Path ended on a spectacular note with a grand finale where the Indian Air Force (IAF) presented a grand fly-past and air display with aircraft and helicopters of the three forces — Air, Navy, and Army on Thursday.

As many as 50 aircraft including nine Rafale fighter jets and four helicopters were part of the stunning air show. There were 45 aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF), one from the Indian Navy and four helicopters of Indian Army.

The Dassault-made French fighter jet is a multi-role 4.5-generation aircraft and the Indian Air Force’s most modern jet. Rafale has participated in Republic Day festivities in 2021 and 2022, however, this is the first time a quarter of the whole Rafale fleet participated in a flypast.

Indigenously produced Prachand, a multi-role, light attack helicopter was also part of the Indian Air Force flypast. ALH Dhruv and ALH Rudra were seen as well.

Prachand, which comprised an LCH AC in lead with two Apache Helicopters and Two ALH Mk-IV ac in echelon flew in five ac Arrow Formation, as per ANI. After Prachand, a Tiranga formed by five Sarang (ALH) flew in the Ladder Formation and streamed the tricolour.

Comprising a Dakota ac in lead with two Dornier ac in echelon, a Tangail was formed that flew in ‘vic’ formation. After Tangail, the Vajraang comprising one C-130 with four Rafale flew in Abreast formation. Forming an Arrow while flying, the Netra comprising of 1 x AEW & C ac with four Rafale ac in echelon also flew.

This year’s Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, led by President Draupadi Murmu witnessed India’s military prowess, cultural diversity, and several unique initiatives.

Delhi has turned into a fortress with 6,000 security personnel standing guard as part of a multi-layer security cover on Republic Day to thwart any untoward incident. The cops are also conducting anti-sabotage checks, verification drives and patrolling to thwart any untoward incidents, said officials.

Apart from police personnel, 24 help desks have also been set up for people those attending the celebrations at the Kartavya Path. Police said that around 60,000 to 65,000 people are expected to attend the Republic Day celebrations.
