New Delhi: Their escape was ardous and prolonged but the return of the Congress and JD(S) MLAs from Karnataka back to Bengaluru might be easier. This comes after a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court ordered DGP to ensure security to all the legislators.
The SC has ordered that a floor test be conducted in Karnataka Assembly at 4pm on Saturday. The SC was hearing a petition filed by the Congress-JD(S) combined in Karnataka against the decision of Governor Vajubhai Vala to invite BJP’s B S Yeddyurappa to form the government.
The MLAs had to leave the Eagleton Resort in the outskirts of Bengaluru after Yeddyurappa ordered the police to withdraw security at Eagleton and Shangri-La hotel. The Congress MLAs were staying at Eagleton Resort and the JDS were sheltered at Shangri-La.
The MLAs were initially supposed to be transported to Kerala, but after a “delayed” DGCA clearance they were taken to Hyderabad via road, say sources.
Both Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao had also agreed to host them.
Finally, the newly elected lawmakers were packed in small groups in luxury buses from Sharma travels, owned by a long-time Congress loyalist.
