Alagiri says DMK headed for its worst defeat but won't quit party
Alagiri said he would take a decision on floating a new party only after the LS polls. He also praised Jayalalithaa for maintaining discipline in her party.

Chennai: With less than a month to go for Lok Sabha elections, the DMK is dealing with family politics. DMK chief M Karunanidhi's estranged son and suspended DMK leader MK Alagiri held a meeting with his supporters in his stronghold of Madurai and said that the DMK was headed for its worst defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

He also praised AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for maintaining discipline in her party.

Addressing his supporters, Alagiri said that he will not quit the DMK. The clarification came after posters announcing a new party under his leadership were seen in parts of Madurai on Sunday. Sources close to Alagiri had, however, distanced themselves from the posters.

He had earlier said that he would consider floating his own party but would take a decision only after the LS polls.
