New Delhi: A TV commercial for Samajwadi Party, featuring the Big B, is fast turning into a political controversy with both the Congress and Raj Babbar's Janmorcha questioning the expenditure angle of the same.

The Congress first raked up the issue on Tuesday, when it moved the Election Commission urging it to include the expenditure in the poll budget of Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party.

On Wednesday, Raj Babbar joined forces, claiming that the "commercial is being aired at a cost of Rs 5 crore per week per channel" and demanded that the SP include the cost in its election budget.

He also urged the Election Commission to order a probe into the matter. "Where has this money come from? This should be the subject of the investigation," the Janmorcha leaders told journalists.

The TV commercial shows the Big B is highlighting the achievements of Uttar Pradesh Government from the banks of river Ganga and it is being aired on various news channels for sometime now. Raj Babbar also demanded that the Big B should make his stand clear on the issue and specify if he is the brand ambassador of UP or the Samajwadi Party.

"I am happy that this issue, first raised by Janmorcha, has been picked up by other political parties," he said.
