Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Prasanna Patasani has advised his political and party friends to stay away from mobile phones and laptops to boost their sex life during the hectic election campaign.
"Mobiles and laptops bring a lot of stress to human beings. They majorly affect sexual desire in a negative way. I have advised many youngsters, including political colleagues, to stay away from these gadgets," Patasani, the MP from the Orissa capital who is also a yoga guru and author of 60 books, said.
"If you are carrying mobiles and laptops then you are carrying tension with you all the time. It is better not to adopt them in personal life. Young lovers spend hours on mobile phones cooing sweet nothings. They consummate over these gadgets but when it comes to the real act, they falter miserably," he said.
He said political colleagues in the Lok Sabha as well as his home state, Orissa, come for personal advice to him on diet, health and stress management. "Those who have listened to me carefully have reaped the fruits," he smiled.
"I don't want to take names as these are personal things but there are several politicians who have benefited after paying heed to my counsel," said the man who has lectured thousands of students and researchers across the world, including at Oxford University, on dietary practice, good health and yoga.
"I personally don't carry a mobile and am perhaps the only MP in the country to do so in an era of technology. At the age of 65, I am tension free and stress free," he said.
The MP, who is very particular about his diet and health, depends on his landline and personal rapport with the masses to win elections - something he has been doing for the last 30 years.
"The computer cannot be more efficient than the human mind. Too much dependence on computers is not good as it spoils your health, body cycle and creativity. It's mind that does all the computing work and not the other way round."
He, however, clarified that he is a man of progressive thought and does not oppose the use of technology to boost the economy and make further strides at the national and international level. "Let's not lag behind in IT."
Talking about his party's position in the state, the senior leader said: "I am in favour of coalitions. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the BJD had a nice marriage but unfortunately the wife (BJP) went to the governor with a divorce paper. The BJD will post a thumping majority along with its present allies, the Left parties and the Nationalist Congress Party.
"I am telling you we will win more than 90 seats."
