New Delhi: In what may be seen as a big stumbling block to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), its senior leader LK Advani, for the first time in history, skipped its National Executive meet in Goa citing health concerns. Advani is apparently opposed to the proposed elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the campaign committee head.
A decision was expected on Modi at the extended Parliamentary Board meet held in Goa on Friday. However, with Advani's absence, the matter was postponed to Sunday, the final day of the National Executive meet. Sources now say that Advani's presence on the final day too is uncertain.
In the midst of all the chaos, CNN-IBN looks at the big questions:
- To what extent will Advani go to express his disapproval of Modi?
- With the RSS also backing Modi, is Advani running out of options?
- Can the RSS prevail upon Advani to back elevation of Modi?
- Is a last-ditch attempt being made to block Modi's elevation?
- Is Advani trying to dissociate himself from decision on Modi?
- Is Advani trying to pressurise Rajnath Singh to postpone decision on Modi?
