New Delhi: In a veiled reference to the rising popularity of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Nitin Gadkari has said that the party does not need a single hero and it is a multi-starrer party. Gadkari was speaking at a function organised by IBN7 for the Guru Shishya Awards.

This comes amidst the rising clamour about Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Ministerial candidate of the NDA. While JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister is against Modi being the Prime Ministerial candidate, some BJP leaders have been coming out in Modi's support.

Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh minister Babulal Gaur had described Narendra Modi as the second Vallabh Bhai Patel and a "secular" leader to the core.

Earlier Modi's critic Sanjay Joshi had to quit the BJP under pressure.
