New Delhi: Both the Shiv Sena and BJP have staked claim that they will emerge victorious in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls.

Shiv Sena MP Anil Desai told CNN News18, "We have faith, people have voted for us."

When asked about tying up with the BJP post the elections, he said, "Don't think it will come to that. Uddhav ji (Thackeray) has last word on it."

Mohit Kamboj, a BJP leader, said. "BJP will cross 125. Celebration preparations have already begun here. We are confident that the mayor will be from BJP."

Shaina NC of the BJP told CNN News18, "This is a 50 percent increase in our number so far. We have done very well and we have grown in many wards where did not have our presence."

"There had been systemic flaws in running the BMC and we exposed that," she added.

On alliance with Shiv Sena, she said, "BJP has 122 MLAs and we are here to stay. Devendra Fadnavis will continue to be CM of the state."

Manohar Joshi, Shiv Sena leader, said, "BJP will only grow next to Sena. Confident that we will win with a clear majority as I have been here for a long time and know the happenings."

As per latest reports, Shiv Sena is leading in 85 seats while the BJP is holding on to 52.
