BSP finds Natwar Singh 'indisciplined', expels him
Natwar Singh's son Jagat had been expelled earlier by the BSP.

Lucknow: Former External Affairs minister K Natwar Singh was expelled by the BSP on Tuesday for indulging in anti-party activities and was accused of indiscipline and lack of faith in the Bahujan samaj movement, four months after he joined Uttar Pradesh's ruling party.

Announcing the expulsion, BSP national general secretary Satish Chandra Misra said it was found that Singh had joined the BSP after leaving Congress in August with some "ulterior motives."

Singh, who was expelled from the Congress, had started indulging in acts of indiscipline after finding that his plans did not fructify, Mishra said.

"Natwar Singh who had been active in politics and in Congress for a long time was told at the time of joining that BSP was not not like any other party", Misra said adding that he was told that party attached great importance to discipline as well as faith and dedication towards the BSP movement.

It was thought that since Singh was a senior leader he would rise above personal ambitions and interests and work for the movement but it was found to be otherwise, Misra said.

"At the time of the Rajya Sabha elections, he had expressed his desire to enter into the fray on BSP ticket but as there were several dedicated party workers who should have been given priority over Singh he was told that neither a capitalist nor an opportunist would be fielded", Misra said.

The BSP general secretary said that as soon as Singh understood that the ulterior motives for which he had joined the BSP would not be fulfilled, he started indulging indiscipline.

On Jagat Singh, Natwar Singh's son who was fielded as BSP's Lok Sabha candidate from Jaipur, Misra said that he too started demanding assembly ticket from Bharatpur seat and when his request was turned down as the party had decided to field a Brahmin, he too started violating the party's discipline.

Misra said that both Natwar Singh and his son, Jagat Singh had joined the BSP as ordinary workers and were not given nor promised any post.

He said that Jagat Singh had earlier been expelled by the Rajasthan unit and now Natwar Singh too has been expelled as he had been found to be working against the BSP policies.

Jagat Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, November 18.

Misra clarified that leaders joining the BSP from other political parties can remain in the BSP only till they remain loyal, dedicated and disciplined.

There had been several examples when senior leaders of other parties who had joined the BSP had been shown the door whenever they had indulged in anti-party activity and violated party discipline, Misra added.
