Bhattacharjee put in a token presence at a Left Front protest demonstration a day after the Centre announced rise in prices of diesel, kerosene and LPG on June 25.
Left constituents attended a meeting in Kolkata on Friday and expressed concern at the rise in prices of petro products and essential commmodities and chalked out a protest plan.
The meeting decided to hold dharna and protest demonstration in some areas of the metropolis on July 7 to be followed by protest rallies in some city markets in the next three days.
The Left described the price rise as 'an attack on the common man by the Centre' and demanded immediate withdrawal of the hike in petrol prices.
