New Delhi/Chandigarh: The Narendra Modi government is at loggerheads with the Punjab government over possible revival of the Khalistan movement.

Union Home Ministry had written to the Punjab government and sought immediate action to check the Khalistan movement. Troubled by inaction over the first alert, the Centre wrote a second letter to the Shiromani Akali Dal government.

The Parkash Singh Badal government is trying to get Punjab militants released from jails across the country and has written to other states to transfer prisoners to Punjab.

After 1993 Delhi bomb blast convict Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar was transferred to Amritsar from Delhi, radicals are glorifying his role in terror.

The intelligence available showed that state government's actions are helping revival of Khalistan movement.

The signs of trouble are already emerging as radical elements have been encouraged to observe death anniversary of Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and og Operation Bluestar.

Some Sikh groups also observed the 2015 Republic Day as 'black day'.

The Centre is also worried that Pakistani spy agency ISI might try to revive militancy in the state.
