New Delhi: Analysing the tenure as it nears the end, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi claimed that the government at the Centre has been able to fulfil 90 per cent of the poll promises made by the party before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. "I am proud to say that we have completed 90 per cent of what we said in our 2009 manifesto," he said.
Rahul Gandhi made the claim while the party leaders gathered in New Delhi to release its manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, too, echoed the sentiments saying that most of the poll promises made in 2009 have been fulfilled.
Rahul, who has been travelling in different parts of the country to grab the mood of the people and incorporate their wishes in the manifesto, gave an assurance that all the points that were highlighted during the discussions, have been included in the party's manifesto.
"The manifesto is the voice of the people of this country. I promise that whatever you have told us, we have written in this manifesto. The opinions and wishes of business classes are also reflected in this manifesto," Rahul said.
Rahul also added that there must be a firm partnership between the business class and the poor for the upliftment and development of the country. "We cannot grow this country by either neglecting either business community or the poor," he said.
