Kottayam Kerala Congress Leader K M Mani and other UDF

leaders on Tuesday charged the CPI(M) was using police for the election

campaign of its candidate.

Presenting a Kerala Police Association notice on formation of the reception committee of its 26th State Conference to be held in May, the UDF leaders charged Mr Suresh Kurup, MP, the CPI (M) Kottayam candidate, had been invited to inaugurate the meeting convened to form the reception committee of the state conference on March 12 in violation of the model code of conduct.

The notice would be presented before the Election Commission, they

said. Union Minister Vayalar Ravi would inaugurate the UDF's election

convention here on March 16.

Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy would preside over the meeting

and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala deliver the main adderss.

Later, the election committee office would be inaugurated.
