New Delhi: A day after a motorcyclist was run over by a truck in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj area after his bike got stuck in a pothole, the AAP government in Delhi blamed the delhi police for denying permission for road repair works in the area.
The government continued to deny its responsibility and said that the truck driver, and not the pothole is responsible for the death.
"His bike got stuck in the pothole, but he died when a truck ran over him, so he did not die because of the pothole, but the truck. Of course, his bike got stuck. This issue was grave and unfortunate. PWD officials will ensure such things don't happen in the future," AAP spokesperson, Dilip Pandey said.
"My son has left me and now he won't come back ever. There are other mothers too, and these roads should be repaired so that they don't suffer like me," Praveen's dejected mother yelled repeatedly.
45-year-old Praveen Pratap had died on the spot after he fell down from his motorcycle that got stuck in a deep pothole and was run over by a truck . All that local officials have done is fill the pothole with mud. The truck has been seized, however the driver is absconding.
Satyendra Jain, the Transport Minister, alleges that the Delhi Police didn't allow the authorities to repair the potholes in Vasant Kunj. "On 14th and 21st July, we had written letters to DCP traffic, but they never replied and instead didn't allow us to function," he said. He also asked people to call 1077 and inform about the potholes in their area.
