Mumbai: Ex-Congress MP Nilesh Rane, son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane, was arrested on Friday in Chiplun in Maharashtra.
The Bombay High Court asked him surrender after his anticipatory bail was refused in a matter where Rane had allegedly beaten a party worker.
He was taken for a medical examination and will be produced in a local court on Friday.
The Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to grant pre-arrest bail to Rane.
Justice Ajay Gadkari asked him to surrender before police on or before May 23 while allowing Rane to withdraw his anticipatory bail petition.
Congress Taluka president from Chiplun has alleged that he was kidnapped, assaulted and confined inside a locked room by Rane and his party men for missing the Maratha meet.
