New Delhi:Fighting against his father-in-law and five times Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Jagdish Mukhi from Janakpuri constituency, Congress candidate Suresh Kumar says former IPS officer Kiran Bedi will do more harm than good to the BJP.
"The BJP will be at 100 per cent loss with the induction of Kiran Bedi in the party as it shows the party's defeat and dearth of senior leaders. She is a good administrator but not a good politician," says Kumar.
He is confident of Congress bouncing back and winning 20-25 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. "People have acknowledged the development work done by Congress and have realised BJP's plan and hold it responsible for the delay in development work."
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP had a stunning victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections followed by a very good show in Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections, but he adds that BJP has been reduced to being a Modi party. "Jis din Modi ka gubarra phata, uss din BJP apna astitva kho dega. (The day Modi's popularity comes down, the BJP will lose its identity)."
Kumar has been doing door-to-door campaigning, nukkad sabhas and is also using social media. "I would like both Bollywood stars and politicians to campaign for me. I would like Raj Babbar and Nagma to campaign for me as people like them a lot here."
When asked whether his wife Latika will campaign for him, he says, "I have never forced her to campaign for me. She is free to choose."
With her husband and father contesting in polls, Suresh on a lighter note said that Latika is in a win-win position. "She has nothing to lose. In both circumstances, she wins."
