Govt unable to give a strong answer to Pak's inhuman acts: Modi

New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at Pakistan over Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh's death. He said it is futile to expect Pakistan to follow the due process of law. "Sarabjit's extra-judicial killing is yet another grim reminder that expecting Pakistan to follow due process of law in any sphere is futile," Modi tweeted.

Blaming the Government of India, Modi tweeted. "Both, the Government of India & Government of Pakistan have misled people on Sarabjit Singh issue. The truth on this issue must come out. Centre is unable to give a strong answer to Pakistan's inhuman acts. Beheading of our soldiers & now Sarabjit's death are 2 recent examples."

Condoling Sarabjit's death, Modi tweeted, "Sarabjit Singh's demise is very sad. May his soul rest in peace. May God give strength to his family to bear this loss."

Indian prisoner in Pakistan Sarabjit Singh died of a 'cardiac arrest' at Lahore's Jinnah hospital on Thursday after batting for life for nearly a week. The announcement from Pakistan came late in the night. While his body has been shifted to a mortuary, Pakistan has formed a medical team to conduct the autopsy.

His family has demanded that his body be brought back to India and he be declared a martyr. Pakistan media reports say a decision was taken to take him off ventilator support as he was clinically dead. However, the family claims it was only informed later by the Pakistan authorities and they allege this was tantamount to murder.
