'Govt-Left agreement on adjournment motion fails'
The Left had said that they will move an adjournment motion on the price rise issue.

New Delhi: Ahead of Day 2 of the winter session of Parliament, talks between the government and the Left Front on adjournment motion have failed, according to sources.

Sources say that the Left insists on a discussion under rule 184 on adjournment motion, but the government maintains that a discussion on price rise will take place only under Rule 193 which means no voting on adjournment motion.

Finance Minister and the government's trouble shooter Pranab Mukherjee had met the Left and Samajwadi Party leaders to chalk out the strategy for Wednesday's session.

The Left had said that they will move an adjournment motion on the price rise issue.

Meanwhile, the BJP parliamentary party met on Wednesday morning to chalk out its strategy. The party so far has been insisting on an adjournment motion and discussion on the issue of black money. But this will follow the Left initiated discussion on inflation.
