Grand alliance promises compensation for communal violence victims in Assam
The Common Minimum Programme of the AIUDF, RJD and JD(U) spelled out many promises including compensation for communal violence victims in Assam.

Guwahati: Victims of communal violence and ethnic cleansing in Assam would be provided compensation at par with the victims of 1984 Sikh riots, said the Common Minimum Programme of the AIUDF, RJD and JDU which announced a grand alliance for the ensuing state assembly polls on Thursday.

Emphasis will be given to provide employment and bank loans to widows, orphans and people injured in these targeted violence, AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal told reporters.Pension will also be provided to the widows and children whose parents/husbands or relatives were killed in these violence, he said.

The alliance will also ensure security of life and property of minorities and Hindi speaking people living in Assam.

Measures will be taken to strengthen law and order, public security will be ensured and insurgency problem will be solved through peaceful talks and dialogues.

The alliance will work unitedly for equal rights, dignity and development of the people of all ethnic groups in the state and tribal status will be granted to deserving tribes of Assam, it said.

The alliance will eandeavour hard for the socio-economic development of the state and give top priority to the burning problems of Agriculture,Industry, Education and Health.

The alliance will work together for the permanent solution of the problems of the flood and river bank erosion and will provide relief, rehabilitation and adequate compensation to victims of river bank erosion and communal violence, the CMP said.

The alliance will ensure equal payment for the state government employees at par with central government employees. The Common Minimum Programme of the alliance was released jointly by Ajmal, JD(U) General Secretary and Incharge of North East Arun Kumar Srivastava and RJD state unit convenor Kanak Gogoi.
