Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday cancelled the bail granted to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray in the Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) railway exams case.
Railway Police in Patna had registered an FIR against Raj Thackeray on the basis of the statements of students from Bihar appearing for the exam held in October 2008 who returned after being allegedly beaten up by MNS workers.
Raj Thackeray will have to appear before the Kalyan court on June 29. The GRP had sought his custody in the case.
"The High Court has set aside bail granted to him by Kalyan magistrate's court, as well as the anticipatory bail given by Kalyan sessions court," senior advocate Amit Desai, the special public prosecutor in the case was quoted as saying by the PTI.
"He has been asked to surrender on June 29 before railway magistrate's court, as the Government Railway Police had sought his custody," he said.
