Months after alleging assault, Swati Maliwal on Wednesday accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of protecting his close aide, Bibhav Kumar. Stating that her life is in danger during Bibhav’s bail hearing in Delhi High Court, the Rajya Sabha MP demanded justice and stated that she was “shamed and called by names”.
“My life and my family’s life is in threat. When I went for medical in my relative’s car even those details of the car were made public. Please give me justice, Swati Maliwal said, adding, “I was brutally assaulted. I have been a Chairperson of the Delhi’s Women Commission, I have given justice to so many women, and here I am demanding justice for myself.”
Delhi HC Reserves Order On Bibhav’s Bail Plea
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on the bail plea moved by Bibhav Kumar, former personal secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Swati Maliwal’s alleged assault case. The court will now pass the order on Friday, July 12.
During the hearing, the Delhi Police informed High Court Bibhav is a highly influential man and used to draw the salary equivalent to a joint secretary even after being dismissed from his position.
“He (Bibhav) holds enormous power and can influence the witnesses in Chief Minister’s office and residence,” the police informed the Delhi High Court.
Notably, a Delhi court on July 6 extended till July 16 the judicial custody of Bibhav Kumar. Kumar is accused of assaulting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on May 13 at the Chief Minister’s official residence.
