Ranchi: Jharkand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi has recommended President's Rule in the state.

Governor Razi sent a report to the Centre on Friday night detailing the current political scenario in the state following the resignation of Shibu Soren as chief minister.

The state was plunged into a turmoil after Soren, the Jharkhand Mukti Morch (JMM) supremo, who was trying to enter the state Assembly, was defeated in the by-elections for Tamar and stepped down as chief minister.

Soren later named party MLA Champai Soren as his successor, which was rejected by his allies Congress, Rashtriya Janta Dal and some independent MLAs which provide crucial support to the Soren ministry.

Main opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and other political parties have demanded fresh elections in the state.

Soren had lost the by-elections for the Tamar Assembly constituency by 9,062 votes to Jharkhand Party candidate Gopal Krishna Patar.
