New Delhi: Here is a look at election related stories that made the news on Tuesday.

The Patna High Court has refused to stay the conviction of RJD MP Mohammad Sahabuddin. This means that the High Court has disallowed him to contest the election. The controversial MP was seeking re-election from the Siwan Lok Sabha seat. RJD Chief Lalu Prasad had on Monday declared Shahabuddin's wife, Hina Shahab, as the party's candidate.

The Left parties have lashed out at the Prime Minister who nad said that the Left had a negative mindset in respect of the nuclear deal. The Left chose to remind the Prime Minister that it was because of the Left that many of the flagship legislations like NREGA and the Tribal Bill were possible.

The BJP has denied daughter of late Pramod Mahajan, Poonam Mahajan, a Lok Sabha from North-East Mumbai. The BJP has fielded Kirit Sommaiya from the seat instead. This is seen as a setback for party General Secretary Gopinath Munde who had left no stone unturned to get Poonam a nomination.
