New Delhi: Fight for the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency in Delhi probably has never been this interesting. After AAP chose former journalist Ashutosh and Congress decided to re-nominate Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chowk, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday fielded its tallest leader in Delhi unit, Dr Harshvardhan Singh to take on its rivals in Chandni Chowk.
Union Minister Kapil Sibal currently holds the Chandni Chowk constituency and has won two straight elections from there.
BJP has rather experimented with its choice of candidates for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
While the BJP has given the crucial ticket of New Delhi constituency to its national spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi, Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari has been allotted the Delhi North East constituency.
While the reserved North West Delhi seat goes to Dalit leader Udit Raj, Mahesh Giri will fight from East Delhi.
Former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma's son and MLA Parvesh Verma will contest from West Delhi, while the South Delhi seat goes to state leader Ramesh Bhiduri.
More than 20 names were discussed for the seven constituencies in Delhi. The BJP at present does not have have a single Lok Sabha member from Delhi.
