Rahul says 'no politics' in visiting Kolkata bridge collapse site, 'came for people'
The Gandhi scion ruled out any politics in his visit even as the Trinamool Congress termed him as "tourist Neta".

Kolkata: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday visited the bridge collapse site in Kolkata and met the victims of the tragedy. The Gandhi scion ruled out any politics in his visit even as the Trinamool Congress termed him as "tourist Neta".

"Have come here to meet the injured, (and) do not want to give a political statement," said Rahul Gandhi after meeting victims of the Kolkata bridge collapse that claimed at least 24 lives and injured several others.

Asserting that he did not want to make any political statement, Rahul Gandhi said, "I have came here to support the people, I wanted to come here and give my support to the people. That is what I did, give support to the people, whatever little support I can."

"We should reach out to the people, it is a tragedy."

This comes even as political blamegame is on between political parties following the incident in poll-bound West Bengal. While the Trinamool Congress and the Left have traded charges, the BJP has also targeted the Mamata Banerjee government for the tragedy.
