New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh criticised the United Peoples Alliance (UPA) for its failure on all fronts of governance at the National Executive meeting of the party here today.

Singh said that the UPA Government has not been successful in solving farmers suicides across the country and the number of deaths has increased despite an announcement of relief package by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

"In fact landless farmers of Bundelkhand have also joined them in suicidal death and suicides from new areas are also being reported," he added.

Singh also demanded the government to call for a special session of Parliament to discuss the issues of farmers and landless labourers.

He charged the UPA Government of failure in tackling the menace of terrorism in the country.

Singh applauded Narendra Modi for his victory in Gujarat elections, and said Modi has done an extraordinary work in the state as the Chief Minister.

He said as "we have shattered the myth that the BJP Government cannot return to power twice or thrice in a row. Now we should try to achieve the similar result in other BJP led states also."

Singh urged the State leadership of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan to gear up for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Rajnath Singh said that the NDA gave the message of unity by declaring Lal Krishna Advani as prime ministerial candidate, which would take us towards success in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He said that Advani’s name is well known in Indian politics, and his contribution alongwith Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the party has been memorable.

"Advani represents a fine combination of development, shinning integrity and governance," Singh added.

Lastly, he said that the National Council of the party would meet tomorrow and the day after to decide its strategy for the forthcoming Assembly elections in eight states.
