New Delhi: The ‘Cash for Votes’ scam has brought together three sworn enemies after a decade. The three men, RJD chief Lalu Yadav, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and LJP’s Ram Vilas Paswan addressed a joint press conference in Delhi on Monday August 4.
The trio, now allies of the ruling Congress, released a fresh CD showing that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had 'stage-managed' the ‘cash for votes’ scam for political gains during the July 22 trust vote.
The ire was directed at BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley for allegedly masterminding the entire exercise. Fagan Singh Kulaste, one of the three BJP MP's who claims to have been bribed by Amar Singh ahead of the trust vote is the key character in the entire political drama, according to the three UPA ally leaders.
This coming together of Paswan, Yadav and Yadav may be an indicator of a future political alliance. But at the moment their agenda seemed to be to protect Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh of Samajwadi Party whose members have been accused by the BJP of attempted horse-trading.
The joint exercise may have been necessitated now as the three leaders are now a part of the UPA alliance and any aspersions on the SP leaders may cast a shadow of doubt over the ruling UPA in general.
CNN-IBN National Political Bureau Chief Bhupedra Chaubey opines that this seems to be a season of political stings.
The takes on the ‘cash for votes’ issue differ according to the party who brings it out.
Recently Uma Bharati had accused the Shivraj Singh Chauhan group inside BJP of masterminding it.
Ironically, today’s joint press conference by the three UPA leaders comes on a day when the Parliamentary probe headed by V Kishore Chandra S Deo has viewed the original sting CDs and may soon bring out a report.
