148. Shamshabad is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Madhya Pradesh and is part of Sagar Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Shamshabad falls in Vidisha district and Malwa North region of Madhya Pradesh. It is categorised as a rural seat.

There are a total of 1,75,311 voters in the seat, which includes 93,504 male voters, and 81,805 female voters. In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections, Shamshabad recorded a voter turnout of 75.01%. In 2013 the turnout was 72.99%, and in 2008 it was 69.46%.

In 2013, Surya Prakash Meena of BJP won the seat by a margin of 3,158 votes (2.6%). Surya Prakash Meena secured 44.63% of the total votes polled.

BJP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 20,000 votes (22.57%), registering 45.22% of the total votes polled.
