Mumbai: The exodus of Shiv Sena leaders to Nationalist Congress Party continues in Maharashtra. The latest Sena cadre to defect is Mohan Rawale. The former five-time Shiv Sena MP joined the NCP on Friday.
He had represented Mumbai South Central five times. Rawale was expelled from the Shiv Sena after his outburst against the leadership. Rawale told CNN-IBN how party chief Uddhav Thackeray did not give him an audience for four years despite several requests.
More than half a dozen top leaders of Shiv Sena have quit the party in the last two weeks, many of whom are sitting MPs.
In a huge blow to the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Rahul Narvekar, the Sena spokesperspon had earlier jumped ship to join arch rival Nationalist Congress Party. He was upset with the party as he was asked by the party high command to withdraw his candidature from the legislative council elections. NCP then fielded Narvekar in Pune's Maval constituency.
