Sukhbir Badal quits as Punjab Deputy Chief Minister
Badal quit as he could not get himself elected to the Punjab Assembly.

Chandigarh: Sukhbir Singh Badal resigned as Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Wednesday, less than six months after being sworn in as second in command to his father Parkash Singh Badal.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal confirmed that his son had put in his papers.

Badal junior resigned within six months of being sworn in.

He took oath on January 21 this year and had to get elected within six months under the rules of the Representation of Peoples Act. The six month period was to end July 20.
