Team Rahul Goofs Up, Deletes Anti-Modi Tweet After Calculation Error
Rahul Gandhi said the price of pulses had gone up by 177% instead of 77%, tomatoes by 285% instead of 185%, onions by 200% instead of 100% and milk by 131% instead of 31%.

New Delhi: At a time when he is set to take over as the next Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's team goofed up on Twitter by first posting erroneous data on price rise, only to delete it later.

According to news agency ANI, the soon-to-be Congress President tweeted his seventh question to Prime Minister Narendra Modi — Gandhi had promised to ask one question every day in the run up to Gujarat elections — asking him about the rising prices of essential commodities in the country.

The ANI report says, directly blaming PM Modi for the rising prices, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the sharp difference in 2014 prices and the same in 2017. The data chart provided by him said the cost of a gas cylinder was Rs 414 in 2014, while it is Rs 742 in 2017. Instead of saying that this is a 79% rise in prices, the Gandhi scion mentioned it as a 179% growth.

However, this is not the only mistake in the chart and he went on to add the prices of other items. Gandhi said the price of pulses had gone up by 177% instead of 77%, tomatoes by 285% instead of 185%, onions by 200% instead of 100% and milk by 131% instead of 31%.

The Congress leader had upped the already steep prices by an extra 100% for all products.

A few weeks ago, the youth wing of Congress had caused quite a lot of embarrassment apart from providing fresh ammo to the BJP with a tweet on PM Modi’s tea-selling background.

Congress’ Yuva Desh magazine, on its Twitter handle, put out a picture of PM Modi in conversation with US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Theresa May. In the picture, the PM can be seen asking them if they are aware about the various 'memes' that have been put out by the opposition against him. Theresa May is seen correcting the PM and informing him about the correct pronunciation of 'memes', and also advising him that he is better off 'selling tea'.

This tweet was also deleted but had already caused much damage to the party ahead of the Assembly elections in Modi’s home state, Gujarat.

Below is the corrected tweet that Rahul Gandhi posted later:
