New Delhi: Expelled BJP leader Uma Bharti may soon be returning to the party. Senior party leader L K Advani on Wednesday took Bharti, a former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, on a special plane to Chhattisgarh.
IANS reports as the plane touched down at Raipur's Mana airport at around 10 a.m., journalists spotted Bharti stepping out with Advani, former party president Rajnath Singh and party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.
The four leaders attended a function at Kawardha town to pay tributes to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's father. The Chief Minister's father died on June 4.
Bharti was first suspended from the BJP in November 2004 for her outburst against Advani in front of TV cameras and later again in 2005 for rebelling against MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Bharti formed her own party but failed to do well in elections. The BJP has indicated that it plans to take back Darjeeling MP Jaswant Singh, who was expelled from the party for writing a biography praising Pakistan’s founder M A Jinnah.
Bharti taking a flight along with Advani has sparked speculation that she is returning to the BJP.
