UP govt has cheated farmers: Sharad Yadav
JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav alleged that the UP govt had cheated farmers and investors on the land acquisition issue.

Ghaziabad: JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government had cheated farmers and investors on the land acquisition issue in Noida and Greater Noida.

Yadav had come to the district to meet farmers' leader Mabveer Singh Teotia, lodged in a jail here. He was, however, denied permission to meet him by jail authorities and the District Magistrate.

Criticising the Mayawati government for its policies, Yadav said that 27,000 hectares of land was acquired from farmers of villages near Noida on the pretext of infrastructure and industrial projects but was later diverted to builders at rates several times more than the acquisition costs.

"Mayawati's government has cheated farmers and investors this only goes on to show the rampant corruption in the government," he told reporters in Ghaziabad.
