Will get industry back to Singur: Buddhadeb
Agitators in Singur demanded 400 acres of land acquired for Nano project be returned.

Singur: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee visited Singur on Sunday, his first visit since the Tata's pulled out of the district.

Daring his nemesis Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee, Buddhadeb promised to bring back industry to the area if the people asked for it.

Buddhadeb said, "Tata hasn't suffered losses because of its exit from Singur. It is the people who have suffered. All this because of the politics by the TMC. We will try and make the industry return to Singur."

Violence broke out shortly before the Chief Minister arrived. Police used tear gas to disperse agitators believed to be belonging to the Trinamool.

They were demanding that the government return 400 acres of land acquired for the Nano project. Three persons were arrested and two policemen injured in the brick battle.

In October 2008, Mamata Banerjee's agitation forced Tata's to abandon Singur and move to Gujarat. Tata's finally relocated the Nano plant at Sanand, near Ahmedabad.
