Darshan-starrer Kaatera, the last Kannada film to release in 2023, is breaking records for advance booking sales, selling over 60,000 tickets ahead of its release on December 29. The film has already grossed a staggering Rs 1.4 crore through advance bookings, and these numbers continue to climb as the release date approaches.
Directed by Tharun Sudhir, Kaatera features Darshan, Jagapathi Babu, and Aradhana Ram in leading roles, with Vaijanath Biradar, Shruti, and Kumar Govind in supporting roles. Produced by Rockline Venkatesh, the movie falls under the action drama genre and is set to release exclusively in the Kannada language, not as a pan-India film. Despite this, the film’s advance booking has exceeded Rs 1 crore, showcasing immense anticipation and enthusiasm among the audience.
The film is anticipated to be based on a true story, presenting a rural setting. Recently receiving a U/A certification from the censor board, Kaatera boasts a runtime of nearly 2 hours and 59 minutes.
The notable success in advance bookings suggests heightened excitement and anticipation among fans eager to witness the film in theatres. The overwhelming response also reflects the popularity and appeal of Darshan Thoogudeepa, who gained recognition through films like Saarathi, Roberrt, Yajamana, and Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna. His last appearance was in Kranti, directed by Harikrishna. Upcoming projects for Darshan include KD- The Devil, Raja Veera Madakari Nayaka, and Gandugali Madakari Nayaka.
The film’s makers, during a recent press briefing, shared their high expectations for Kaatera. Director Tharun Sudhir revealed that producer Rockline Venkatesh expressed immense satisfaction with the film, and it is believed to have exceeded expectations, considering Venkatesh’s extensive experience in the industry.
As Kaatera gears up for its theatrical release, the extraordinary advance booking sales indicate a promising start at the box office and strong support from Darshan’s dedicated fanbase.
