LIC Issues Notice To Production House Over Vignesh Shivan's Love Insurance Corporation
LIC sent the legal notice to filmmakers for naming their upcoming film LIC: Love Insurance Corporation, similar to the trademark of LIC.

Nayanthara’s husband and accomplished filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is gearing up to direct his upcoming film titled LIC (Love Insurance Corporation), featuring Pradeep Ranganathan, SJ Suryah, and Krithi Shetty in pivotal roles. However, the film has now found itself entangled in a controversy as the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has issued a notice to the makers, including Vignesh Shivan and Seven Screen Studio, objecting to the title.

Advocate Karthikei Balan, representing LIC, sent a legal notice to the makers, citing concerns about the film’s title bearing similarity to the trademark of LIC. The notice stipulates seven days for the makers to change the title and warns of potential legal action for copyright infringement if corrective measures are not taken within the given timeframe. The notice has also been extended to Seven Screen Studio and the Tamil Film Active Producers Association.

As of now, the makers have not responded to the legal notice, and there is no clarification regarding the controversy. The silence from the filmmakers has led to speculation about their possible courses of action. Audiences are eagerly awaiting clarification to understand how the team plans to address this unexpected challenge posed by the government organization.

The upcoming film, LIC, marks the first collaboration between Vignesh Shivan, Pradeep Ranganathan, and Krithi Shetty. Produced by Seven Screen Studio and Rowdy Pictures, the film boasts music by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography handled by Ravi Varman.

LIC, the title under scrutiny, has prompted the Life Insurance Corporation of India, a government entity overseeing life insurance and investments, to object based on its trademarked identity. The controversy has now cast a shadow on the film’s pre-release phase, and the filmmakers’ response will likely determine the future course of the project.

In the personal sphere, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s love story began on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in 2015, where Vignesh was the director. After years of dating, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony on June 9, 2022. The couple later welcomed twins, Uyir and Ulag, through surrogacy.
