Amid stiff competition in the telecom sector, Bharti Airtel has recently revised its Rs 149 recharge plan. The prepaid plan which previously offered 1GB per day for a period of 28 days, now offers 2GB of data for the same period. According to recent reports, the updated plan will however be available only in a select few cities.

The new plan will continue to offer unlimited calls for local, STD and roaming. Besides this, users also get 100 free SMS per day. Airtel has been undertaking a string of revisions in its plans. Airtel had also recently come up with a Rs 499 prepaid recharge plan offering 2GB per day with a validity of up to 82 days. Under this plan, users get unlimited local and STD voice calls, unlimited incoming and outgoing on roaming and SMS benefits.

Telecom companies are going all out to retain existing customers by offering benefits at competitive prices. Vodafone, one of Airtel's chief competitors offers a Rs 199 pack to its customers. The Rs 199 recharge plan provides 1.4 GB of 3G/4G data per day. Bundled with this plan are unlimited local, STD and roaming calls in India. The plan which is valid for 28 days also gives users 100 free SMSes.
