Apple's Vision Pro Headset Sells Out Quickly; Over 1,80,000 Units Sold So Far, Says Kuo
The high demand for the Vision Pro has resulted in extended shipping dates for new orders, with delivery times for all models now estimated to be 5-7 weeks away from the February 2 launch date.

Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset, marking the company’s inaugural product line in nearly ten years, has been quite popular ever since it went on pre-order. And, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has purportedly sold over 1,60,000–1,80,000 units of the headset.

Per Kuo, the high demand for the Vision Pro has resulted in extended shipping dates for new orders, with delivery times for all models now estimated to be 5-7 weeks away from the February 2 launch date. “As predicted, the Vision Pro sold out immediately after the pre-order opened, with shipping times for all models extending to 5–7 weeks within hours,” he said.

We can also see scalpers listing the Vision Pro on eBay for double the retail price. This observation further reinforces the notion that the headset is popular, and people may pay up and over the retail price to acquire the headset at or near launch.

That said, it’s not the first time Apple products have sold out fast at launch. We have seen it happen with iPhones before. People pre-order them right away, and then they have to wait months for them to ship. This is especially true for the ‘Pro Max’ models. But what’s happening with the Vision Pro is a little different, according to Kuo. “However, unlike Vision Pro, iPhone models usually continue to see a steady increase in shipping times 24 to 48 hours after pre-orders open, indicating that demand continues to grow even after the initial sold-out,” he added.

Speculation is—Apple’s partners, such as Luxshare, will be working overtime to manufacture a sufficient quantity of Vision Pro units to satisfy demand, as the production of about 5,00,000 units should not pose a significant challenge. However, it is equally important to assess the level of continued interest in the product following the initial sell-out, in order to accurately evaluate any shifts in demand, Kuo concluded.
